Final Project: Process

For the final project I'm tackling the concept of life and death through a canvas diptych. I wanted to explore the process of photo transfer while also working with my area of study (painting). One panel represents life, and the other death.
The life panel has photos of my grandparents when they're my age juxtaposed with the flower of life mandala and other flowers. Neither panel is done and I plan on incorporating more brush strokes that are lively and gestural to signify life and also possibly more imagery.
The death panel has a photo of them much later in life and incorporates imagery such as a death certificate, skeletal sections and lilies (the most common funeral flower). I plan on using more stiff straight brush strokes on this panel to symbolize things slowing down from the first panels more fluid lines.
I've kept the color scheme for both panels neutral to mimic the antique quality of the old photographs I transfered and a unify them together. I might add one color to each panel, I haven't decided yet.
